How to Use This Template

This is the format a manager fills in to define a role for one of their direct reports. It works for new hires and for redefining the role of someone already in seat.

The template is short on purpose. Two sentences for the mission. Two measures of success. Anything more becomes a list of tasks, which is what this template is designed to replace.

Fill it in once for one person. Discuss it with them. Edit together. Date it. Revisit at the next major moment of change in the role or the business.

The mission is not a task list. It is a picture of the outcome the role produces.
